Cyclists to race from Kanilai to Brufut

The annual cycling race as part of the Brufut marathon will on Saturday kick off from Kanilai to Brufut, where the competition will wrap up for the day.

This year’s competition is organised by the Brufut Marathon Run Association (BMRA) in collaboration with The Gambia Cycling Association.

All the cyclists will be leaving for Kanilai today 7 December, where they will be spending the night till the following day when the race will start from at 8:00 am.

 Speaking to Pointsport on Wednesday, Edrisa Sah, who serves as the PRO and as the assistance secretary general of the cycling association, said this year’s cycling event will start at Kanilai for the first time; 16 cyclists will ride from Kanilai to Brufut, a distance covering a total of 107km.

The competition will bring together the senior national cycling team of The Gambia who will be competing for national glory and pride.

“The sporting objectives of the competition will contribute to strengthening the President’s call to go back to the land, “grow what we eat and eat what we grow.”

As this year’s run is aimed at Running against Hunger and for Human Development,” Edrisa said.
