A day-long capacity building training for coaches and administrators in Kombo Central District ended at the Brikama Box Bar Mini-stadium at the weekend.

Organised by Kombo Central District Committee (KCDSC), the training brought together coaches and administrators from within the district.

Speaking at the course venue, the chairman of the KCDSC, Babun Fatty, said the training was the second of its kind, adding that it was organised to equip coaches and administrators with basic skills in coaching.

He commended Saamasang Federation for sponsoring the training, which, he said, would go a long way in capacitising coaches in the district. Saamasang, he noted, has offered computer classes to youth of the region paying 75% of the fees involved.

The treasurer of West Coast Region Sports Committee (WCRSC), Abdou Karim Sey, urged the participants to make best use of the knowledge gained from the training including sharing it with members of their respective communities.

He applauded members of Saamasang Federation for their tireless contribution towards the development of sport in the district, saying the training would really aid coaches in their career.

Saamasang’s manager, Edrissa Cham, expressed his federation’s readiness in supporting the youths and children of the area, adding that the federation would embark on a tour across all the villages in Kombo Central to discuss with youths and children about problems they face in their areas and try to find solutions to them.

Other speakers on the occasion included the ward councillor of Kembujeh ward, Lamin Touray, who hailed Brikama Youth and Sports Committee and Kombo Central District Sports Committee for their contribution towards the development of sports in Kombo Central.
