Nyan, 25, joins Real de Banjul on a free transfer from Gamtel where he’s been captain for several seasons.
Nyan has won the Gambian FA Cup title with Gamtel for four consecutive years in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
The hard tackling midfielder has also been a key figure in Gamtel’s success in international competitions namely the CAF Confederations Cup and the WAFU.
Matarr Nyan, who is a full international for the Gambia Scorpions told www.realdebanjul.gm: “I am glad to join Real de Banjul as one of the top clubs in The Gambia. I feel like home coming back because I was here before going to Gamtel.”
President William Abraham said shortly after the transfer: “Matarr Nyan will add power, maturity and much quality to our squad and we are all looking forward to him enjoying his stay with us. He has produced top quality performances at his former club and we hope he does more for us in coming seasons.”
Abraham added: “He is a great signing for us. He is a player with good experience at both club and international level, who will add significant quality to our squad.”
