CID officer testifies in false pretence case

One Famara Jatta, a CID police officer attached to the Brusubi Police Station, recently testified before Magistrate Isatou Janneh of the Bundung Magistrates’ Court in obtaining goods by false pretence case involving one Babucarr Bah.

Officer Jatta told the court he recognised the accused, and recalled 7 July 2014, when they received a case file from the complainant, Ebrima Bah, of obtaining goods by false pretence.

He said upon receiving the case file, they, the police, interrogated the complainant on how things happened and he said the accused requested a laptop from him, costing D30,700 and a bag containing valuable items.

He said the complainant further told them that during the process of the accused’s request, he, the complainant, was not conscious of what he was doing.

On 5 August 2014, he added, when he arrived at his office, he met the complainant and the suspect, and the complainant said the suspect was arrested by the police at Bakoteh.

The suspect was brought to Brusubi Police Station where he was charged with obtaining goods by false pretence, and his statement was obtained, he said.

The case continues.
