The chairperson of the Ecowas Federation of Business Women Federation and Entrepreneurship Gambia chapter (FEDWE) said she is hopeful of a successful event due to be held from 29 June to 1July 2012 at the Independence Stadium Bakau.
Speaking to Pointsport yesterday, the chairperson revealed that this being the first time of organizing such significant events, she assured that the committees will work collectively to ensure an event of continuity.
She thanked the head of state and the vice president, Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy, for their love and contributions towards the development of sport.
Madam Conteh-Jallow added that their collaboration with the national wrestling organizing committee is a good gesture and that she hopes to continue working with the national wrestling committee closely in developing wrestling in The Gambia.
She said: “I am glad that my committee is now working collectively in the development of wrestling; this is one ways that we can complement the head of state’s efforts in revitalizing wrestling in The Gambia.”
The chairperson said that they had invited wrestlers from Senegal to compete in the event.
To that effect, some members of the two committees had left for Senegal who should come along with the wrestlers.
The wrestlers, include Tapha Tine 2, Bai Major and Yahou Jaal, are due to arrive today in Banjul, likewise Kucha and Lamin Samba of T. FM, who should arrive in The Gambia on the same day.
The guests from Senegal are to be in the country during the events.
