Cameroon have completed a brace over The Gambia in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The
Indomitable Lions thumped the Scorpions 2-0 in the second-leg tie played at the
Omni Sports Stadium in Limbe on Saturday to complete a double over their
Gambian counterparts in the continent’s biggest football fiesta qualifiers.
Cameroon
beat The Gambia 1-0 in the first leg in Banjul last year prior to their
Saturday’s resounding 2-0 win in the second leg at the weekend, courtesy of
striker Vincent Abubakarr in the second half.
Cameroon
opened the scores through striker Benjamin Moukandjo from penalty spot in the
first half before Clinto Njie sealed victory in the second half.
The
victory has earned Cameroon 14 points in six games after winning four games and
drawing two. They are also through to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Indomitable Lions finished unbeaten in group M of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The
Gambia finished bottom place in group M of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations
qualifiers after bagging only 2 points in six games, drawing two and losing
four.
