Bilbao
FC on Sunday thrashed Solid Properties FC 3-0 in the first quarterfinal game
played at the Gunjur Nyamina Football Field to progress to the semifinal of the
2016 late Modou Janneh Memorial intermediate league competition.
The
athletic boys finished runners up in
their group behind group leaders Jabas FC prior to their Saturday’s semifinal
clash with Solid Properties FC, who finished top spot in their group.
Bilbao
FC opened the scores through striker Yankuba Janneh alias Alexis Sanchez midway
into the first half, midfielder Omar Janneh alias Juninho netted the second
goal from an excellent free-kick before break to dash Solid Properties FC’s
hopes of coming back to their feet.
Midfielder
Omar Janneh alias Juninho notched in the third goal for Bilbao FC after the
interval to sail to the last four and also to complete his brace.
The
Gunjur Kulukochi-based outfit reacted quickly for an equalizer and came very
close to scoring on numerous occasions but squandered their limited
goal-scoring opportunities thus the game ended 3-0 in favour of Bilbao FC.
Elsewhere,
Ajax FC thumped Lion FC 2-0 in the second quarterfinal to reach the last four.
