Businessman arraigned for fraud, making documents without authority

One Yusupha Camara, a businessman, was yesterday arraigned before Magistrate A.R. Bah of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on two counts of obtaining goods by false pretence and making documents without authority.

The prosecution alleged in count one that the accused, Yusupha Camara, on 25 March 2016, in Brikama, fraudulently obtained two hundred and eight thousand dalasis (D280.000) from one Adama A.M. Jatta for which he sold a land belonging to one Alfusainey Bangura.

The prosecution also alleged that the accused on 25 March 2016 fraudulently obtained power of attorney in the name of Alfusainey Bangura without authority for the sale of the land to Adama A.M. Jatta.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail of D300,000 with two Gambian sureties.
