Magistrate Dago of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court yesterday convicted and sentenced one Modou Lamin Ndow to a mandatory jail-term of two years with hard labour on count one.
Ndow, who admitted to the charge of housebreaking and stealing, was also sentenced to two years on count two.
Both sentences are to run consecutively.
The charge sheet on count one read that on 13 January 2013, at Sukata village, the convict, Modou Lamin Ndow, broke into the house of one Ayodele I. Thorpe with intent to commit a felony, therein to wit stealing.
Count two read that he stole the following items: two HTC mobile phones valued at D12,000, two Nokia mobile phones valued at D8,000, one digital camera valued at D5,000, cash of D5,000 and Toshiba laptop valued at D32,000, all being the property of the said Ayodele I. Thorpe.
