Reginald Thompson, a British national, was recently arraigned before Magistrate Tabally of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on a two-count charge of common nuisance and destroying evidence, allegations he has denied.

According to the particulars of offence on count one, the accused on 22 March 2014, at the Palma Rima Hotel, Senegambia, in the Kanifing Municipality, without authority and with intent to annoy, obstruct or cause inconvenience to the public, played child pornographic films from his laptop at the reception, an act which caused inconvenience to the people around him at the time, and thereby committed an offence.

Count two stated that on the same date and place, the accused willfully and unlawfully damaged a laptop which contained series of child pornographic films in order to prevent it from being used as evidence against him, and thereby committed an offence.

Magistrate Tabally granted him bail of D100,000 with a Gambian surety who should swear to an affidavit of means and deposit his or her ID card.

Sergeant 3560 Colley represented the IGP.

The case was adjourned till 23 April 2014, for hearing.
