The
2012 Super Nawettan champions Brikama on Saturday beat Manjai 1-0 in the
opening game of the 2016 FiBank-sponsored Super Nawettan played at the
Independence Stadium in Bakau.
Brikama
are supposed to play against the current Super Nawettan champions Serrekunda
West in the opening game but the champions withdrew from the country’s
community biggest football fray after a fracas between Serrekunda West Sports
Organistion and Kanifing Municipality Sports Committee.
The
Sateyba boys snatched the vital three points after netting in a single goal and
missed a penalty to grab their first victory in the 2016 FiBank-sponsored Super
Nawettan.
Brikama
are now currently topping group A with maximum 3 points in one game following
their hard-fought 1-0 win over Manjai in the opening game.
Manjai
are bottom in group A with zero point in one game after their 1-0 defeat to
Brikama in the opening match. They hope, in their next game, to keep their
chances of qualifying for the quarterfinal.
