Omar Bojang’s brace sealed the victory for Brikama against Sukuta during Sunday opening group B game of the Gambia Football Association (GFA) Super Nawettan football tournament played at the Brikama Mini-stadium.
Brikama came from behind to win 3-2 over last year’s runners-up Sukuta after a hard-fought game when striker Omar Bojang scored the winning goal that sent the Sataba fans into rampage in the dying minutes of the game.
Brikama made a stunning start to the game and made some occasional goal-scoring attempts but failed to capitalize on their limited opportunities.
Sukuta, who were defending and relying on counterattacks, opened the score through Amadou Solly in the 25th minute of the game from a stunning strike to give his side the lead before Bully Drammeh levelled the score for Brikama in the 36th minute thus the first half ended 1-1.
As action resumed in the second period, Brikama continued from where they left in the first half and created numerous goal-scoring opportunities but squandered all those chances.
Sukuta, who were under heavy pressure, continued to defend and rely on counterattacks, which paid dividend through Lamin Jobe in the 71st minute of the game from a brilliant free-kick to make it 2-1 for Sukuta.
Brikama responded back and levelled the score through substitute Omar Bojang from a penalty spot after Sukuta centre-back Lamin Camara brought down Brikama starlet Momodou Camara, alias Toubabo, inside the eighteen-yard box in the 86th minute.
Omar Bojang grabbed the winner for Brikama in the dying minutes of the game to complete his brace.
Serrekunda East on the same day beat Serrekunda West by a goal to nil in the Serrekunda derby to register their first win of the competition.
Ebou Sanyang, alias Torres, scored the only goal of the game for Serrekunda East in the 47th minute of the game from a classic header.
