Brikama U-17 team yesterday defeated Gunjur U-17 team 4-1 in the ongoing Gambia Football Association (GFA) nation-wide U-17 selection tournament at the Box Bar Mini-stadium in Brikama.
The keenly-contested game was totally dominated and controlled by Brikama and they made a series of assaults in Gunjur goal mouth, while Gunjur were defending and relied on counter attacks.
Buba Sanneh put Gunjur U-17 in front after 19th minute of the game from a free kick. Brikama U-17 fought back and mounted heavy pressure on Gunjur defence line, and as a result levelled tally through striker Abdoulie Fofana in the 27th minute of the game from penalty spot after defender Buba Sanneh handled inside Gunjur U-17eighteen yard box.
Foday Trawally made it 2-1 for Brikama U-17 in the 29th minute of the game from a goal mouth scramble, and thus the first period ended 2-1 in favour of Brikama U17.
As action resumed in the second period, Brikama U-17 continued their supremacy over Gunjur U-17. They launched some spectacular goal scoring attempts and their efforts paid dividend in the 60th and 76th minutes of the game when Ousman Sillah and John Mayor Tamba netted the third and forth goals, respectively.
In other scores, Banjul drew 1-1 Bakau, Serrekunda East drew 0-0 with Sukuta, and CRR drew 0-0 with
URR, while LRR lost to NBR 3-1.
