In what could be described as a successful completion of this year's GFA Division One League Championship first round, the Gambia Football Association (GFA) has released the second round fixtures which is set to commence tomorrow, featuring one of the hottest teams in the country’s top flight football, including the impressive GPA.
The reigning champions Armed Forces, who has endured some disappointing moment in the first round will begin the second round fixtures with a crucial encounter against bottom place Sea View, at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium on Saturday.
Second place Gamtel, who has got-off to a perfect start to the campaign before losing their place to GPA will rub shoulders with struggling Real De Banjul side at the Manjai Football Field on Saturday, while the last game on Saturday will see Samger rubbing shoulders with Bakau United at Brikama Mini-stadium.
Sunday’s matches will feature Interior and Hawks, who are both struggling to impress.
Brikama United who parted company with Coach Lang Kah are yet to replicate the form which saw them maintain their place in the 12 club championship last season struggling second from bottom. They will meet GPA at the West-Park.
They must re-adjust their chemistry if they want to avoid the risk of relegation to the second tier football as they look set to face the most impressive team in the GFA First Division, the Gambia Ports Authority, who has proven to be the most impressive team in the first round and secured a total of 24 points in the process.
The biggest game will be between Steve Biko and bitter rivals Wallidan, who are expected to renew their rivalry when they rub shoulders at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium on Wednesday.
