Brikama-ba FC on Wednesday defeated Kaira Silo 2-1in the preliminary stage of the Gamtel sponsored FA Cup championship to advance to the first round of the championship.
The game was totally dominated by the Central River Regional boys who had numerous scoring opportunities before they eventually scored in the 27th minute through striker Musa Kuyateh from a close range shot.
Kaira Silo although fought back and mounted a serious pressure on Brikama-Ba FC defence line leveled the tally in the 44th minute of the game through defender Yankuba Darboe and the first half ended 1-1.
At the resumption of the second half, the Central River Region boys came all out for a victory and mounted pressure on their opponents. Their efforts paid dividend in the 75th minute when striker Musa Kuyateh goal sealed a victory for the Central River Region boys of Brikama-Ba from a penalty spot. He was brought down inside the eighteen yard area and registered his second goal of the day.
Kaira Silo then fought back and created dead clear chances, but squandered all their chances. The game ended 2-1 in favour of the Central River Region boys Brikama-Ba FC.
On the same day, Jambanjelly also booked their ticket to the first round of the championship after defeating Upper Badibou FC 5-4 on penalties after a 3-3 draw in regulation time at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda.
Waterman FC also made it to the next stage following their 4-2 win over Serrekunda United on penalties after as goalless match at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
