The donation, described as timely, comes following a twodayvisit of the North Bank Region by members of the ruling APRC top brass led by Hon Fabakary Tombong Jatta, Majority leader of the National Assembly.
The delegation among others include APRC National Assembly Members and their wives in North Bank, Governor of the region, Mr Edward Seckan, Hon. Suku Singhateh, APRC Desk Officer in North Bank, Momodou Turo Darboe, a renowned businessman cum philanthropist, Yai Compins, APRC militants and well-wishers.
Addressing the gathering in Baddibu Kinteh Kunda where Momodou Turo Darboe was adopted as father of the village, Hon Suku Singhateh, APRC Desk officer commended the villagers for the warm welcome they accorded them.
Hon. Singhateh said North Bank Region being an APRC stronghold has remained, and will always remain, in the forefront of national development matters by strongly rallying behind the party and its leader. He urged the people of North Bank to always rally behind President Jammeh and the ruling APRC, a party which is here for the betterment of the Gambian people.
For the APRC Regional Desk Officer, the determination and the energy shown by the people of North Bank to rally behind President Jammeh in grand-style, could be justified by the 'limitless development' that the President and his party has brought and continues to bring to their living-rooms.
He noted that come 2011 presidential election, the people of North Bank will massively vote for the APRC party. "We all have seen what the APRC under President Jammeh has done for the people of North Bank. So we are ready to give him all the needed support come 2011 presidential election," he said.
For his part, Governor Edward Seckan reiterated the need for the people of the region to rally more than ever before, behind President Jammeh and the APRC party. He said for a more rapid development, the only choice is the APRC party.
Speaking at a mass political rally held in Kerr Ardo, where Mrs Awa Ndimbalan-Singhateh was adopted as mother of the village, Hon Fabakary Tombong Jatta, Majority leader, highlighted some of the development projects brought by the APRC party for the people of North Bank over the past years.
According to Hon. Jatta whose wife's name-shake was also visited in Alkali Kunda, the APRC under the leadership of President Jammeh has put development of The Gambia and Gambians among its top priorities.
Also speaking on behalf of Mrs Awa Ndimbalan-Singhateh, Aja Fatou Dumbuya commended the women of Kerr Ardo for adopting Mrs Ndimbalan-Singhateh as their mother, noting that the move is a welcome gesture. She also thanked them for their continued support of President Jammeh and the APRC party.
Hon Yankuba Touray, APRC National Mobiliser and Secretary of State for Fisheries and Water Resources, graced the occasion and addressed the gathering.
Other speakers include APRC Divisional Chairman Ousman Joof, and Lady Councillor Njambeh Njie.
The visit ended with a fund raising kora show with the famous Jaliba Kuyateh in Baddibu Salikene on Saturday.
