In a press release sent yesterday to The Point, the Ministry stated that accreditation and licensing of universities “is presently the mandate of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology” until the establishment of the National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority.
“Students registered to this institution as university students are therefore urged to heed this warning, as they will be doing so at their own risk,” the press release added.
Furthermore, it declared, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology would like to inform the general public that “in as much as it encourages and promotes tertiary and higher education in The Gambia, it reserves the sole authority, or its delegated agency, to issue operational licenses” to institutions within this category.
“All are therefore urged to adhere to this warning,” it stated.
