Bankers trained on sales, marketing and product knowledge

The Gambia Bankers Association on Sunday wrapped up a two-day capacity building training for their members from various banks on sales, marketing and product knowledge.

Conducted by the Open Consulting Group at the Baobab Holiday Resort, the training that brought together thirty-five bankers aimed to update them on banking knowledge.

In his welcoming remarks, Mr Bernard Jamen Manneh, the Head of Membership and Education Department, Institute of Bankers of the Gambia underscored the importance of the training, which he said, seeks to continue updating the various bank staff on knowledge in their respective areas.

According to him, looking at the importance of the training, there is a need to update bankers in various modules, just to make sure that they have the required knowledge to operate effectively for the smooth running of their various banks.

He expressed hope that at the end of the training participants would be equipped with a better know-how, as they have acquired the services of highly qualified resource persons.

For her part, Anna Tracy Mendy, the Human Resource Head at the Zenith Bank Gambia Ltd, described the training as a continual part of their development and then urged the participants to take it with seriousness.

While underscoring the importance of empowering the bank staff, Madam Mendy said banks are very proud to organise such important capacity-building training with the aim of updating their various staff in their operations.

Mendy further urged the participants to take the training as an opportunity to update themselves for a better understanding of the market.

Gheran Senghore, Country Operation Manager at the Open Consulting, said the group is committed to providing top senior management training that would enhance the Gambia Bankers Association human capacity policy.

He also commended the Gambia Bankers Association for providing them with the opportunity to work with the bankers in the implementation of a sustainable training in line with their corporate vision and current strategic plan.

According to Senghore, Open Consulting Group provides training and consulting services to businesses in the areas of facilitation, banking and finance, project management, marketing, corporate governance, customer relationship management, among others.
