The defending champions Bakau will battle it out with Gunjur in the opening match of the 2009 Muhammed Yahya Jammeh's Perpetual Zonal Football Championship tomorrow Saturday 21st November 2009, at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
The defending champions Bakau lost to Gunjur 2-1 in their opening match of last year's championship.
They are expected to come all out for revenge on Saturday to avoid a replica of last year.
Bakau who always perform brilliantly in this championship and also won the title more than any other zonal since its inception in the 90s, have lined up a formidable striking.
Fellow opponents Gunjur despite winning Bakau 2-1in the opening match in the last year's championship went onto lost to Banjul in the semi-final on post match penalty shoot-out after 0-0 drew in the regular time of play.
Serrekunda West will entertain Sukuta in the other Group A encounter at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium on the same day. Serrekunda West who are yet to have a taste of the title since its inception in 90s would come all out for a heavy revenge after loosing to Sukuta on penalty shoot-out in the 2005 zonal final.
On Sunday November 22nd 2009, Brikama will face Lamin in all Western Region derby, at the Brikama Mini Stadium.
Brikama are yet to lift the championship and this year they will be hoping for a victory in order to stand a better position in their group. Lamin won the championship back in 2002, but since then Lamin were unable to perform well. This year they are expecting to put up a brilliant performance.
The same day, Serrekunda East will host Banjul in the other Group B game, at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
