The 2012 Third division qualifiers involving five teams from Bakau is gathering pace at Real de Banjul Mini-stadium and has since produced some results not many pundits expect.
One of the biggest casualties to have exited the group stage of the qualifying campaign is Rush Soccer, a feeder team to the GFA topflight league side Steve Biko.
They were beaten 3-2 by New Town United in day one of the qualifiers played last Friday.
Another surprised defeat came from Milan side, who succumbed to a 4-3 penalty shootout loss to mighty Magadan following a deadly goalless draw in the regulation time on Saturday.
The qualifiers continued today when Rush take on Luniburg, whose last Monday’s game against New Town United could not end due to darkness, with the latter trailing 1-nil at the time of the game’s suspension.
The game, suspended by the central referee at nine minutes to stoppage time, will be replayed in due course.
Two teams among the five taking part in the qualifiers will proceed to the KMC triangular tournament, after which the champions will be promoted to the second tier of Gambian football.
