The 1st edition of the Bakau Beach Soccer Tournament under the organisation of Ebrima Eric Drammeh recently came to a spectacular end with Bafa FC lifting the title following a hard fought 1-nil win over fellow finalists Spy, at the Ocean Bay Beach side in Cape Point.

A decisive first-half goal by Lamin Samateh of Seaview in the GFA second-tier league was all Bafa needed to celebrate the joyous moment in the Bakau Beach Soccer Football tourney.

They have gone down the history records of the tournament as the first team to win it in its first year.

Bafa were rewarded for their outstanding performances at the end of the 16-team beach tournament as they walked away with a cash prize of D3,000.

Each Bafa player also collected Africell T-shirts plus four hundred dalasis Africell credit while Spy FC bagged a consolation prize of 150 Africell T-shirts as runners-up plus D200 Africell credit for each and every member of the team.

Each player that participated in the tournament was also given an Africell sim-card.

“I am delighted to witness the successful end of the 1st Edition of the Bakau Beach Soccer Tournament and hopefully, this will not be the end because I am looking forward to organizing much more successful tournaments than this after the Ramadan,” said Ebrima Eric Drammeh, organizer of the tournament, who also contributed financially to ensure the competition held successfully.

Drammeh used the occasion to thank Abdoulie Bojang, head coach of Steve Biko FC in the GFA first division for what he described as his wonderful contribution and support during the championship.

He also hailed the fans for coming out in their large numbers to support him emphatically while extending thanks and appreciation to Africell and all those who contributed in one way or the other to ensure the tournament was successfully staged.
