TheBrikama Area Council (BAC) over the weekend donated a cheque for D25, 00.00, earmarked for the completion of Brikama Mortuary Project.
The cheque was handed over to Mr. Ebou Badjie, an executive member of the Ex-pupils Association of Brikama Primary School, at the office of the BAC's chairman.
In his welcoming remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of BAC, Mr. Momodou Jallow said the presentation of the said amount by his council follows a request made by the said association.
He described the donation as worthwhile, expressing delight at the gesture.
The Governor of the Western Region, Mr. Lamin Sanneh commended the council for their contribution and said when completed the mortuary will be of huge benefit to the community of his region.
He described the council as a partner in national development and hoped that the amount would be put to good use.
The Regional Governor further called on the communities to be paying taxes to the council for timely delivery of services.
The chairman of BAC, Mr. Sunkary Badjie expressed his council's commitment to plough back the revenue collected from communities in the form of services.
Mr. Ebou Badjie, on behalf of his association commended BAC for their timely intervention, noting that the amount donated would go a long way in enhancing the speedy completion of the Mortuary Project. He indicated that the project will be handed over to the council upon completion.
The presentation ceremony was attended by the Public Relations Officer of BAC, BAC's chairman, Paramount Chief, council's staff and members of the beneficiary association.
