Babylon Case Again Bogged Down

The Babylon trial could not proceed yesterday at the Brikama Magistrates' Court as expected.

The case was called but could not proceed owing to the absence of defence counsel, Antouman Gaye.

The case was subsequently adjourned for continuation next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

MagistratePa Harry Jammeh at this time point a pronouncement that come the next adjourned date whether the defence is in court or not the case would proceed. He advised the accused persons on the possibility of getting another counsel.

The case initially started with ninety-four accused persons who were charged with various counts, ranging from going armed in public, willful damage to property and arson.

The accused persons were afterwards reduced to fifty-five and lately to thirty-two, who are currently remanded in custody.
