Three men were recently convicted and sentenced by the Kanifing Magistrates' Court, presided over by MagistrateTabally.
Pap Senghore, Lamin Jonga Lowe and Dam Cham were each sentenced to a fine of D500 in default to serve three months in prison for conspiracy, on count one.
They were also sentenced to a fine of D10,000 in default to serve six months in prison for stealing, on count two.
Both sentences were to run concurrently. According to the particulars of the offence on count one, the convicts on 4 August 2010, at City Pub in Dippa Kunda, jointly conspired to commit a felony to wit stealing.
Count two revealed that the convicts, at the same place and time, jointly and unlawfully stole one Samsung mobile phone valued at D1,500, being the property of one Salieu Jobe.
Before passing judgement, the presiding magistrate narrated the evidences of both the prosecution witnesses and the convicts.
He told the court that the prosecution in support of their case had called in two witnesses to testify.
"I have carefully observed and I am satisfied that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubts and the convicts are hereby found guilty of the offence committed," Magistrate Tabally told the court.
Consequently they were convicted and sentenced accordingly after plea of mitigation.
The court ordered the recovered exhibits to be returned to the owner.
