Magistrate Bojang of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court recently convicted
and sentenced one Hadim Jagne to a fine of D500, in default to serve three
months in prison.
Hadim Jagne, who admitted to the offence of assault causing actual bodily harm, was also ordered to pay a compensation of D2,000.
Lawyer Moses Richards, on behalf of the convict, said the convict is an honest man and did not waste the court’s time.
He saved the state resources, adding that the convict deserved lenience and was a first-time offender.
The charge sheet stated that the convict, Hadim Jagne, on 23 July 2015 at Kololi in the Kanifing Municipality, assaulted Katim Touray by stabbing him on his back with a knife.
