Ambulance 2 Africa Donates to EMCH

Ambulance 2 Africa, a UK based Organisation, last Monday donated two ambulances, lifeboats and spare parts to the Emergency Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (EMCH) section of the Department of State for Health and Social Welfare at the Naval ports headquarters in Banjul.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mrs. Ramou Cole Ceesay program manager Reproductive and Child health and also the country director EMCH, said the purpose of the donation is to reduce maternal mortality in the country.

She stated that two ambulances will go to Basse while the lifeboat will be given to Essau for emergency purposes during referral time.

She commended Ambulance 2 Africa for the donation.

For his part, the permanent secretary at Department of State For Health and Social Welfare, Sulayman Samba, said the donation is vital to the health sector noting that the coming of the ambulances and the life boat is timely.

David, a member of Ambulance 2 Africa and one of the people who drove the ambulance from the United Kingdom to The Gambia, said they have driven 2000 miles adding that the donation is part of their contribution towards the health sector
