The 2010-2011 GFA league champions, Brikama United, on Saturday defeated blue boys Wallidan 2-0 in the NGO week celebration football match played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The match was organised by ActionAid International The Gambia in partnership with TANGO as part of the NGO week celebrations.

Brikama United used the game to prepare very well for their upcoming CAF African champions league clash against Senegalese league champions US Ouakam FC on Saturday 18 February 2012 at the Brikama Box Bar Mini-stadium.

The game was dominated and controlled by Brikama United, who created numerous goal-scoring opportunities but those chances were denied by Wallidan’s outstanding goalkeeper Ansumana Samateh, thus the first period ended in a stalemate.

When actions resumed in the second period, Brikama United picked up where they stopped in the first period, mounted heavy pressure on Wallidan’s defence line and created some goal-scoring opportunities.

They therefore opened the score through striker Foday Trawally in the 55th minute of the game from a brilliant strike.

Striker Foday Trawally doubled Brikama United’s lead in the 75th minute of the game from an astonishing strike dashing Wallidan’s hopes of coming back to their feet.

Wallidan responded back for an equaliser but could not break through Brikama United’s solid defence line, thus the game ended 2-0 in favour of Brikama United, who are preparing for their CAF champions league clash against US Ouakam of Senegal this weekend.
