The case of conspiracy and stealing involving Samuel George and Ebrima Dampha continued recently at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

Testifying as the first prosecution witness (PW1), Omar Dibba, a police officer attached to Bakau Police Station, told the court he recognised the accused persons.

He said that on 14 January 2012, he was at his house when he received a telephone call from one Raymond Sarr, Human Resource Manager of Ocean Bay Hotel, complaining that a theft occurred in the said hotel.

He said he told Mr Sarr to come to the station, which he did and the complaint was booked.

Still testifying, officer Dibba said he went with First Class 3422, Modou Njie, together with the complainant to the hotel, adding that they met with one Mr. Dumbuya, the maintenance manager, who led them to the vehicle.

He said they found Ebrima Dampha, a driver, and Habibu Jallow, a security, who told them that he found the vehicle with three gallons of gasoil, adding that they cautioned the driver, Ebrima Dampha, about the gasoil and he said Samuel George told him to park the said vehicle.

PW1 further adduced that they found three gallons of gasoil of two-2o litres and one 30 litres, stating that one gallon was found in front of the driver’s seat covered with piece of cloth and two gallons at the back seat also covered with cloth.

He adduced that they invited a photographer, who took photos of the scene, adding that the persons were later taken to Bakau Police Station, where they were cautioned and charged with the offence committed.

He later made a statement to that effect, he said.

Hearing was adjourned till 15 March 2012.
