The third prosecution witness (PW3), Alkalo Sanyang, recently testified in the case involving Ebrima Dibba, who was accused of stealing from a motor vehicle and willful damage to property, at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

Officer Sanyang told the court that he is a police officer attached to Kanifing Estate Police Station.

He said he recognized the accused person, and that on 22 September 2012 he was at the station when the accused was brought there by the complainant, Gibriel Aki Njie, who complained that the accused had stolen his laptop from his vehicle.

He added that he was then assigned to obtain cautionary and voluntary statements from the accused person, adding that he invited an independent witness called Famara Sonko.

Officer Sanyang further adduced that he read the cautionary wording to the accused person in a local language which he claimed to understand, adding that the accused thumb-printed, the independent witness signed and he also endorsed the statement.

Hearing continues.
