Alleged Kuntaur Imam Murderers Plead Not Guilty

Abdul Katir Sillah, Banna Sillah, Amadou Gaye, Kebba Sawaneh, Balla Musa Conteh and Kadijatou Conteh yesterday pleaded not guilty to all the charges preferred against them before the Special Criminal Court of the High Court.

They  are charged with conspiracy to commit murder, breach of the peace and destroying evidence.

According to the particulars of offence on count one, on 16th June 2008, at Kuntaur Wharf Town, the accused persons did agree to commit the murder of one Amadou Jallow, the Imam of Kuntaur.

Count two stated that, on the same date at Kuntaur Wharf Town, the accused persons caused the death of Amadou Jallow, the Imam of Kuntaur Wharf Town by stabbing him with a knife, knowing that death is the probable consequence.

The particulars of the offence on count three states that, the accused persons on the same date at Kuntaur Wharf Town, with intent to cause hatred, disaffection and contempt against the person of Amadou Jallow, spread rumours that Kadijatou was being impregnated by the said Amadou Jallow, the Imam of Kuntaur Wharf Town, knowing that such action is likely to cause the breach of the peace.

While count four which relates to only the six accused Kadijatou Conteh, reads that on the same day at Kuntaur Wharf Town, the accused Kadijatou Conteh did commit an offence by throwing a sim card into the river, knowing that it was going to be used as an evidence against her.

Justice Moses Richards adjourned the case  to 26th November 2009.

In a separate but related development, one Bubacarr Tunkara pleaded not guilty to an alleged murder charge preferred against him before the Special Criminal Court.

According to the particulars of offence on 6th September 2009, at Pipeline, the accused did commit an offence to wit murder one Ahmed Sheriff, a Turkish national by stabbing him severally, knowing that death is the probable consequence.

That case was adjourned to 3rd and 7th December 2009.
