One Alhagie Cham, standing trial for the offence of obtaining money by false pretext, before Principal Magistrate Ibrahim Kijera of the Bundung Magistrate Court, recently had his application for a no-case-to-answer submission dismissed.

The accused, Alhagie Cham, through his counsel, filed in a no-case submission, following the closure of the prosecution’s case.

The trial magistrate, in delivering his ruling, stated that the accused was charged with the offence of obtaining money by false pretext, and the prosecution called five witnesses in support of their case.

He said all the prosecution witnesses had categorically stated that the accused had participated in all the transactions.

He therefore deemed it necessary for the accused person to enter into his defence and his side of the story be heard.

“I deem it prudent for the accused to enter his defence, and I finally overrule the application,” said the magistrate.
