One Basiru Ceesay was recently arraigned before Magistrate Kijera of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, charged with office-breaking, stealing and escaping from lawful custody.
The charge sheet in count one stated that on 11 September 2014, at Bakoteh Samba Tako Foreign Exchange Bureau in the Kanifing Municipality, he intended to commit a felony.
Count two indicated that he stole the following items: two Samsung flat screen TV valued at D32,000, fiscal cash of D8,700, US$100, 50 Euros, one RLG phone valued at D800, one data card valued D1,500. Total value D49,800 being the property of Samba Tako Foreign Exchange Bureau.
Count three read that on 25 September 2014, at the magistrate court, while under the lawful custody of the police for alleged office-breaking and stealing, he escaped from such custody.
Count four stated that on 20 July 2015, at the magistrate court, while under the lawful custody of the police for alleged office-breaking and stealing, he escaped from such custody.
At that juncture, he was remanded in custody pending the next court sitting.
The case was adjourned to 11 August 2015, for hearing.
