Africell Cables thief Jailed

One Alansan Jallow, who was undergoing a criminal trial on a charge of stealing a roll of 90 meter tower cable valued at D9, 000 belonging to Africell company, were on Monday jailed for three months with hard labour by Magistrate Pa-Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates' Court.

Narrating the facts of the case, Inspector Touray said it happened on the 10th November 2008 at Busumbala Kombo North at the Africell branch in Busumbala. He said it was when the head of the security Momodou Lamin Coker received a cell phone that they caught somebody with a roll of 90 meter cables that he rushed to the scene and found the accused person whom he identified to be battery buyer for Africell. He said the accused was arrested and taken to old Yumdun police station and now appeared before the court law.

However, in handing down judgement, Magistrate Pa-Harry Jammeh said he will send the accused to mile (2) as a deterrent to others for the offence committed. He then sentenced the accused to three months with hard labour.
