Magistrate Warns Accused

The Bundung Magistrates' court presided over by Magistrate Amina Saho-Ceesay has issued a stern warning to the accused for stabbing a woman recently.

One Baboucarr Jadama living in Bundung, accused of stabbing a refugee woman, Memuna Conteh, was strictly warned not to come near the woman, the son, or either stab her or any of her family members, because "we don't want any reprisals".

When Magistrate Amina Saho Ceesay asked Baboucarr how it all happened, he says, "I was in my house, they held my sister, I heard her shouting leave me! I was very angry, then I stabbed Memuna." He said he has packed out of the compound.

Memuna Conteh, a refugee said, she was admitted at the hospital for four days and she has severe pains. She reiterated that she had earlier gone to Jammeh Foundation and was referred to RVTH. Her medical report was presented by the prosecutor and mark as Exhibit.

The accused was asked if he had ever stabbed anyone before he answered in the negative.

Under cross -examination by the accused he asked if they had any problems before. Memuna Conteh answered in the negative, "it's my daughter and sister," she said. She further said he had fought with her son but the accused said he fought with 3 people.

"I know that you only fought with my son," she said. She answered in the negative way for not pushing the accused in their house.

The case was adjourned till Monday December 1 for PW2 to testify.
