Africando to perform on New Year’s Eve

In celebration of the wake of another year, Senegambia’s salsa musician is expected to perform on New Year’s Eve at the Coconut Residence where a large number of music lovers are expected to rock and roll, as 2013 gives way to the year 2014.

The event is set to breathe out a new life of entertainment, especially among the working class.

The occasion is organised by Africare Gambia, a charity organization that wants to give back to the community through entertainment and resources also generated from it.

The event will also coincide with the pre-launch of the organization, before it starts its active projects in the country.

As it is all out to celebrate Christmas, the event will be one of its kind in the country as the organizers are targeting classic couple with red carpet treatment.

According to the organizers, the event will also showcase fashion, arts exhibition touching on true Gambian culture.

Speaking to entertainment journalists at a press conference held at the Coconut Residence recently, Maria Sock, director of Africare, said: “This is a company with the aim to work on your needs in the area of promotion, marketing event, management etc.

“We are here to give back to our community and we want to donate the proceeds that will be realised from the event to the country’s main maternity ward.”

Madam Maria added that they would also want to expose young talents internationally.

“This is a young company that is committed to plough back to the community through entertainment,” she said.

Aziz Willan, a co-partner of the event, added: “This event is one of its kind in the country.”

He therefore called on all and sundry to support the event as well as the philanthropic initiative, which is out to aid the people.

Other musicians to perform at the event are Jali Madi, Saikou Saho and the legendary Kabakel Cultural Group.
