The assault case of actual bodily harm involving one Sulayman Silva continued recently at the Brikama Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Babucarr Secka.

Testifying, the prosecution witness, Momodou Bah, told the court that on 4 October 2010, he went to report on bail at the Sanyang Police Station, where he was subsequently detained.

He said he then called his father to go and look after the cattle at his rice field, adding that after returning from the police station he went and met his father at the rice field.

"At the rice field, I found the accused, his brother and another boy fighting my father with a cutlass and stick," he added.

"I went to help my father and the accused hit me with a stick and I also gripped the accused and we both fell down," he adduced.

"The accused put a cutlass on my throat and wanted to slaughter me and as I was trying to remove the cutlass from my throat, I sustained injury in my ears," he explained.

He said the accused’s brother, Omar Silva, took D8,125 and a Nokia mobile phone from his father's pocket and they ran away.

He added that he and his father went and reported the matter at the Sanyang Police Station.

The case was then adjourned.
