9 arraigned for conspiracy

Nine suspects were Wednesday arraigned before Magistrate Babucarr Secka of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, charged with criminal trespass and conspiracy to commit a felony.

The accused persons are Babucarr Cham, Momodou Alieu Jallow, Lamin Badjie, Lamin Gassama, Mustapha Jarju, Yaya Kanyi, Famara Sambou, Omar Sowe and Modou Bah.

The particulars of offence on count one stated that the accused persons on 18 April 2013, in the hours of 10 a.m., at Makumbaya Village, in the Kombo North District of the West Coast Region, unlawfully entered into the orchard of one Mr Bass Mendy to intimidate and annoy him.

Count two indicated that from the 2nd to the 9th accused persons, conspired among themselves to commit a felony.

They all denied the charges and were each granted court bail of D10,000 with a Gambian surety who must deposit a biometric ID card and swear to an affidavit of means.

The case was adjourned till 22 May 2013.
