A 60-year-old man was yesterday sentenced at the Magistrates' Court in Brikama Western Region, to 8 years mandatory jail term for defiling an under-aged girl of 16 years.
The accused, Samba Jallow, alias Pa Jallow, was convicted by Magistrate Emmanuel Enkea, following his own plea of guilt.
According to the particulars of offence, Samba Jallow on or about the 23 of February 2010, between the hours of 9am to 10am at Sanjagor village in the Foni Kansala district of the Western Region, unlawfully had canal knowledge of an under-aged girl of 16 years old.
After explaining the charge sheet to the accused person, he admitted that he had carnal knowledge of the girl, but he denied her defilement.
When asked by the trial Magistrate whether he really had canal knowledge of the girl, he replied in the positive.
