Eight people were recently arraigned at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, before Magistrate Babucarr Secka, charged with multiple criminal offences.
The accused persons are Modou Sanyang, Alagie Sanyang, Wuyeh Sanyang, Dembo Badjie, Bakary Badjie, Malang B. Jatta, Malang Badjie and Jerreh Badjie.
All the accused persons, who pleaded not guilty, were charged with four counts of conspiracy, common assault, threatening violence, and causing grievous bodily harm.
The prosecuting officer, 1st Class 2294 Lamin Jammeh, on Tuesday told the court that he was applying for an adjournment on the grounds that defence counsel, Buba Jawo, was not in court.
The alleged offence, on count one, stated that all the eight accused persons, on 24th May 2009 at Madina Salam village in the West Coast Region, conspired among themselves to commit a felony.
Count two stated that the accused, Wuyeh Sanyang, on the same date, month and year and in the same village, assaulted one Buba Jammeh, by beating him all over his body.
Count three read that all the eight accused persons on the same date, month and year and in the same village threatened to kill Foday Jammeh, Nuha Jammeh, Lamin Jammeh and other Jammeh Kunda family.
The particulars of offence on count four indicated that the accused, Modou Sanyang, on 24th May 2009 at Madina Salam village in the West Coast Region, unlawfully caused grievous bodily harm to one Amadou Jatta, by chopping him with a cutlass in his right hand.
The case was subsequently adjourned till 24th January 2011.
