Gunjur United have snatched their first point in the second round of the 2011-2012 Gambia Football Association (GFA) second division league after a 1-1 draw against Latrikunda United.
The game was a re-scheduled Week 10 fixtures played at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda at the weekend.
Gunjur United, who have lost seven games in a row and are currently rooted second place with 9 points, knew that a defeat against Latrikunda United will really hamper their hopes of staying in the second tier next season.
Latrikunda United, who are 7th on the league standing with 13 points, also knew that defeating Gunjur United will dash their hope of retaining their position in the second division.
Latrikunda United opened the score through winger Samba Njie in the 30th minute of the game from a spectacular strike to give Latrikunda outfit the lead.
Gunjur United fought back and levelled the score through rising star Saikouba Manneh in the 75th minute of the game to cancel out Samba Njie’s 30th minute opener to share the points
Seaview thumped Tallinding United at the East Mini Stadium, while Interior beat Sait Matty 1-0 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
Seaview is still leading the second division table with 37 points in sixteen games with two games in hand, while Interior are occupying 2nd with 33 points in fifteen games with three games in hand.
Tallinding United are 5th with 17 points in sixteen games, while Latrikunda United are 7th with 14 points in sixteen games with two games in hand.
