Minister Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh on Wednesday evening confirmed the discharge
of two patients of covid-19 after having recovered from the virus.
He
said that only one patient is now receiving treatment at a government treatment
center.
The
Gambia has registered four cases of covid-19, with one death, a Bangladeshi who
entered the country from Senegal. He was confirmed to have contracted the virus
after his death.
Three
cases were all imported, one from the United Kingdom and two from France.
“In
what could be seen as an optimistic sign for the country, Minister Samateh
disclosed: “Since the beginning of the pandemic, all confirm cases are imported
and no indication of local transmission. This is an opportunity for entire
country to work together.”
The
minister thus urged people to continue following health advices to prevent
local transmission.
He
finally encouraged people to report any suspected case to 1025.
