The accused persons, who admitted to the charges, were convicted on count one to a fine of D2,000each in default to serve one month in prison and on count two to a fine of D3,000 in default to serve three months in prison.
They were also ordered to pay a compensation of D450 each to the complainant.
In their mitigation, both begged the court for mercy, adding that it was a mistake.
The facts as narrated by CPL 3217 Camara stated that it happened on 14 June 2014, in Fajara.
He said the complainant, Sheriff Jallow, was at the golf side having sports and as he was going home, he met with the two accused persons who stopped him and started searching him.
They took his cap, mobile phone and a watch.
They were chased by the complainant and through the help of one PIU officer, the accused persons were arrested and taken to Kairaba Police Station.
It was only the cap and the watch that were recovered but the mobile was not recovered.
The charge sheet read that on 14 June 2014, at Fajara, in the Kanifing Municipality, they conspired among themselves to commit a felony.
Count two stated that on the same day and place they stole from the person named Sheriff Jallow: one watch, cap and a mobile phone.
