Terrorism Suspects Deny Charges

The six accused person namely, Ebrima L. Jarju, Ebrima D Jarju, Modou Tamba, Musa Sambou, Abdoulie Sanneh and Modou Lamin Sanneh charged with terrorism have denied the charges before the Special Criminal Court of the High Court in Banjul.

The six are facing a two-count charge of terrorism and false declaration.

Count one stated that the six accused persons conspired among themselves to commit an act of terrorism.

Count two stated that the accused persons on diverse days at Dasilami village unlawfully obtained the Gambian Identity Card by false declaration.

Modou Lamin Sanneh, the sixth accused person and the oldest among them, appeared to be very sick and was allowed to take a seat while in the dock.

Justice Moses Richards ruled that the sixth accused be given due medical attention while in remand.

The matter was subsequently adjourned to 3rd February 2010 for hearing.
