JESUS IS THE ANSWER

“Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the Lord.”

(Isaiah 31:1)

Jesus is the Life-Giver. Before His birth, it was said concerning Him: “And you are to give Him the name Jesus because He will save his people from their sins.” (Matt.1:21)

In an era when many without authentic credentials are claiming to be saviours, we are called to be on our guard. There can only be one Saviour and his name is Jesus. The Bible teaches that “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12) So do not settle for less.

The experience of the jailor who wanted to commit suicide when he thought the prisoners (Paul and Silas) in the maximum security cells had escaped after an earthquake  had struck the prison walls, comes to mind. He feared for his life; but Paul assured him: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved – you and your household.” (Acts 16:31) He had feared for his life, but he found relief and confidence in the name of Jesus.

Paul himself sums this up beautifully: “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of which I am the worst.” (1 Timothy 1:15)

Does Jesus represent a saviour or your Saviour? “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith who for the joy set before Him endured the cross….” (Hebs.12:2) Remember no man or woman on earth is able to save him or herself.
