“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:103)
No one in his/her right mind would go to war empty-handed. Imagine for a moment if David were to face Goliath empty-handed when the latter was armed to the teeth? The story would have been different, because David would have been mere prey, and part of some statistics.
Goliath was a seasoned warrior with several accolades to his credit; yet he fell because he despised the prowess of his adversary – a young man named David. David was not alone. He was able to defy and kill the giant because he had the backing of Jehovah Nissi, “The Lord is My Banner.” (Exodus 17:15)
If we were to take a leaf out of David’s experience, we also would have been reluctant to rush headlong into a fight for which we were ill-prepared. That would not only spell disaster, but we would have been certain casualties.
We have not entered the second half of 2026 with the idea that it would be a level playing field – meaning that we know what it holds for us. Again, that would have been sheer foolishness on our part to have done so without invoking the name of the Lord through prayer and fasting - in a bid to seek the Lord’s face for guidance and protection.
I urge all the readers of this article to ask God to teach you His ways: “Show me Your ways. Lord, teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God, my Saviour, and my hope is in You all day long.” (Psalm 24:4-5)
