“You, O Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him.” (Ps.18:29)
At various stages in our lives, we find ourselves at crossroads – health challenges, homelessness, family disputes, broke and broken -- that compel us to seek or call for help, because we are devastated and overwhelmed by the circumstances. At such points in time, no amount of experience, courage or intellectual prowess can see us through. There are instances when we need someone to comfort us, to encourage us; when we need shoulders to lean on. In moments like these, we are extremely vulnerable. Desperation sets in and we find ourselves at our lowest ebb and what do we do? We grab any hand that is offered, just to find solace and great relief.
But hold on! Today, there are many wolves in sheep clothing, many false prophets who, like the devil, are ‘prowling around seeking someone to devour.’ But that will not be our portion.
Whenever we find ourselves in a tight corner [and we sure would], we are reminded that: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in time of trouble.” (Ps.46:1) God will provide all the help we need, and it will be permanent. Only believe!
“Our God is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and they are safe.” (Prov. 18:10-13) Today RUN!
