Dubbed the “All School Talent Festival’, the event aims to present a lively and memorable sign-out for outgoing grade 12 students in the Gambia (class of 2023).
Speaking with The Point, the young vocal DJ explained the inspiration behind the initiative.
“In recent years, during sign-outs, when students have their programmes, you will see the police going after people and pursuing others at times because of chaos. Sometimes, there are accidents and the like. It is this which we wish to minimise and bring to a broad end. This is what we wish to stop. That is why we come up with this initiative,” he said.
He added: “The moment we introduce this to the youngsters, it would remove their minds from car stunts, overcrowding at Traffic Light and all that.
“This would be an event where we will showcase various talents. We would feature artists, deejays, dramatists, poets and the like. We would cover all these, and that’s why we named it ‘All Schools Sign-out and Talent Festival’.
“So actually, you would realise that it is a concert, but it is not only a concert but a festival as well - a festival that would be celebrating and commemorating the sign-out of the young folks [2023 high school badge]. So it is me and my team who have come up with the idea to stage this event.”
DJ Zigler pledged this would be an event that has never happened in The Gambia.
