Regional Youth Chairperson for Upper River Region, Bubacarr Sidibeh, is known for his unwavering dedication to youth empowerment and community development.
Sidibeh is currently serving his second term in The Gambia National Youth Council. He has become a prominent voice for rural youth across The Gambia.
He was elected as a Regional Youth Chairperson for the Upper River Region (URR) and Council Member National Youth Council in 2023.
Sidibeh attended Nasir Ahmadiyya Muslim Senior Secondary School and later proceeded to The Gambia College, where he secured diploma in education. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at the International Open University (IOU), reflecting his commitment to continuous learning.
Over the years, Sidibeh handled numerous leadership roles such as Chairperson of Fulladu East District Youth Committee, President of Kansala Youth Association, Country Coordinator of International Youth Summit (2020), Regional Treasurer and member of The Gambia Youth Chamber of Commerce (URR Chapter).
As an entrepreneur, Sidibeh is the founder of PESSSI Company Limited, a business that not only delivers solutions to its customers but also provides vital employment opportunities to youth in the region.
In his role as Regional Youth Chairperson, Sidibeh has been an outspoken advocate for decentralization, urging the government and partners to extend job opportunities and establish skills training centres in rural areas.
Sidibeh continues to highlight the urgent need for financial backing for regional youth committees to roll out impactful programs such as entrepreneurship training and mentorship.
His influence extends nationally as he sits on the Board of Directors for the President’s International Award (PIA), and internationally as a Licensed International Business Coach/Mentor, guiding numerous SMEs and empowering young entrepreneurs across the country.
Sidibeh is not just a leader he is a catalyst for change. His voice echoes the hopes and aspirations of rural youth and his actions continue to pave the way for a more inclusive and empowered Gambia.
Following his election as the chairperson of Upper Region Youth Committee, Sidibeh is resolute towards strengthening the voice of youth in the Upper River Region.
Passionate about activism, Sidibeh has served so many organisations within his jurisdiction and beyond. This has made him conversant with youth work.
Meanwhile, Upper River Region Youth Committee was established to give youth a voice in the region and to promote youth development and participation.
URR Youth Committee works on various initiatives, including youth empowerment, skill development, and community engagement.
The committee focuses on strengthening the voice of youth in the region and promoting their participation in local governance and development processes.
