Waterside thump Lancaster Utd on spot-kick to gain promotion to 2nd Tier

Waterside FC on Saturday defeated Lancaster United 7-6 on penalties after the regulation time ended goalless in the 2020-2021 Banjul Regional Football Association (BRFA) third division league final played at the KG5 Mini Stadium to gain promotion to The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Division Two League.

Both sides played defensive and offensive football, crafting some goal scoring opportunities but the regulation time failed to produce a winner.

The win earned Waterside FC a spot in the country’s second tier.

Waterside FC received a giant trophy and a cash prize of D75, 000 as 2020-2021 Banjul Regional Football Association (BRFA) third division league champions, while Lancaster United received D50,000 as the runners-up.
