Samger edge-past GPA to move away from demotion zone in 1st Tier

Samger FC on Monday defeated The Gambia Ports Authority 1-0 at the Late Ousman Football Field to move away from the relegation zone in the 2021-2022 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Division One League.

The Academy boys were sitting second-place from bottom on the country’s elite league table prior to their clash with the ferry boys who sit mid-table.

Samger required a victory against The Gambia Ports Authority to move away from the demotion zone in the first division league.

The Academy boys notched in one goal in the match without The Gambia Ports Authority responding to clutch the vital three points.

The victory moved Samger to 12th place on the country’s premier league table with 8 points.

The Gambia Ports Authority dropped to 8th place on the first division league table with 10 points after seven league matches.

Waa Banjul drew 1-1 with Wallidan at the Real de Banjul Football Field to share the spoils.

Meanwhile, Waa Banjul and Wallidan now grasped 16 points each after eight league outings.
